Lockwood Parish Council recently organised a litter pick to address the appalling state of the footpath, known locally as the Black Path, between the High Street and Wand Hill Gardens in Boosbeck.

Litter pickers and bags were supplied by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council. Boosbeck Looking Good publicised the event in the village so there was a good turnout from local residents keen to help keep the village clean and tidy.

A team of around 25 people. including 8 members of Lockwood Parish Council, Carole Jeffery, ward councillor for the Westworth Ward, members of Boosbeck Looking Good and a number of Boosbeck residents spent around an hour collecting 15 bags of rubbish from the footpath.

After the event refreshments were kindly provided for the volunteers by The Boosbeck (Top House).

Lockwood Parish Council is now exploring what can be done to improve the fencing on the footpath to prevent so much litter collecting between the fence and hedge in the future. If there is an area near you that is overgrown or in need  a tidy up please e-mail us at This email address is being protected from spambots.
